Ellen Newsom grew up in Tuscaloosa (ROLL TIDE!) and graduated in 2010 from The Royal School for Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery degree. Although she never mastered the bagpipes, she is a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association. Dr Newsom started her career at a mixed animal practice in Mobile for 6 and 1/2 years, but since January 2017 she is happily focusing on small animal medicine and surgery here at Animal Medical Center. Her particular areas of interest are diagnostic imaging and promoting pet wellness through client education. Dr. Newsom has 4 dogs (Ceilidh, Rusty, Iola, and Chalupa-cabra), a horse named Berwick, and a corn snake named Joe.
